Layton's zingers were poorly timed and delivered. May's on the other hand stood out for me. You probably think I'm being partisan on this observation, but I am really trying to be honest.
Erin, that one was a good quote, just not a zinger.
Did you catch May's "Where is it?" quip when Harper said look at the Con. platform? That was a zinger and perfectly timed. Spontaneous, not contrived like Jack's line you cited about the sweater. It was just a personal image attack -- valid in this campaign given Harper invited it, but still.
Congrats, the Dippers freeped the CBC online poll with the sweater quip and beat out the better "Where is [the Conservative platform]" quip from May to Harper when he asked voters to look at a platform that isn't there.

Saskboy, you've at least got to hand it to Layton for "Where's the platform? Under the sweater?" Probably the line of the night.
Layton was bang on with every one of his lines.
"The economy is not fine...Either you don't care or you are incompetent. Which is it?"
That one was especially well timed.
